Welcome To My Casa Bella

My Casa Bella- means-my beautiful home- but it can mean so many other things. How you make your home a home. The sounds of children or pets playing. The aroma of scones in the oven or a lilac candle burning. The flowers blooming in your garden. The home grown vegetables ready to be picked. Grandma's quilt at the foot of the bed. A fire to curl up to with a good book. Or just a family spending time together with love, laughter and a good time.

No Need to Call the Fabric Police!

Well, I guess I should go around and remove all the "Wanted" ads posted for my missing 7 yards of fabric. And I guess I can stop questioning my husband asking him what he did with my fabric. I tried to question the cats but all I get is purring and cute facial expressions. I couldn't tell if that was guilt or innocence. It was too hard. Yesterday, I went back into my sewing/workshop to do some clean-up and also because I was determined that somewhere in there my fabric had to be hiding. Even though I have very few storage areas in there, I knew it had to be in there somewhere. So I cleaned, organized, threw out some stuff. Swept in there. And right before I was going to walk out in disappointment, with almost tears in my eyes, I pushed in my chair back under my sewing table. Then I noticed that my sweater that is hanging on the back of the chair seemed bulky. When I lifted the sweater, I heard music......there it was, all 7 yards of my fabric. Hiding under my sweater the whole entire time!!! I couldn't believe it! I did not remember bringing the fabric out to my sewing room even though that is what I always do, but since I could not find it in there then the only other answer was that somehow it had gotten thrown away, not sure how, but it must have. I was so happy. I brought it in, washed it, dried it and took a picture of it. Now I need to buy some liner and trim and start sewing my heart out. Then after all that, I relaxed on my love seat and I wanted to look over my new book that I just purchased:
This picture is courtesy of Hetties Patch which I found accidentally. I took my own picture of the book but I didn't like it, and here she had it on her site, beautifully displayed. If you visit her tell her I sent you...So ladies, its done. The search is over, and evidently according to my dear friend Valerie, its age. UGH!!

  1. I'm sooo happy for you !!!
I know how it is to "loose" something in your own home/craft area ... not fun. I too feel like crying specially if I really need what I'm looking for or special in someway. But Oh how good when found !!!
    Enjoy your new book !!!

  3. Actually no, I don't give sewing classes, but that's a thought, why you want a class?

  4. Hi Arlene, thanks for your post on my blog and for missing me :) I am so glad you found your fabric. Makes you wonder if there are sprites in your workroom forcing you to organize and move things around sometimes! Can't tell you how often this happens to me!! I love your window treatment and bath curtain! Just beautiful. I need to spend some time browsing here on your blog. Your kitties are so pretty! And so are your bags! I love meeting someone else who loves sewing bags as much as I do. Have a beautiful weekend. I'll be poking around on here listening to your great music and getting to know you better! Dianne

  5. Arlene! How lovely of you to come and visit! Thank you. The name of that picture is unknown to me, however, John Waterhouse is the artist. I would just Google his works and this should come up. One of the great Pre-Raph artists of the Victorian era, indeed! Good luck. If you can't find the name, email at:rivani@bethel.edu and I can send you a copy of the picture and then you can maybe use that as a reference. Anita

  6. I just noticed on your profile that you like Puerto Rican food...rice and beans? My husband is from the Bronx, Puerto Rican!! I am Mexican-American, but prefer the Puerto Rican cuisine any day!! Anita

  7. Arlene! Buenos dias! I am glad that you will be able to pursue the information on the John Waterhouse print. The pre-raph artists' work has such a lovely quality. AND YOU ARE PUERTO-RICAN!!! Love it! We don't have any Puerto Ricans here in Minneapolis, but when we go back to New Jersey, we get our fill of arroz con gandules and all the other yummy foods. I make a "pavochon", as my father in law calls it, for Thanksgiving. The best turkey preparation on the planet! Enjoy! Anita
