My Casa Bella

COME IN THE EVENING, OR COME IN THE MORNING;

COME WHEN YOU'RE LOOK'D FOR,

OR COME WITHOUT WARNING.

KISSES AND WELCOME YOU'LL FIND BEFORE YOU,

AND THE OFTENER YOU COME HERE

THE MORE I'LL ADORE YOU!

-Thomas Osbourne Davis

Welcome To My Casa Bella

My Casa Bella- means-my beautiful home- but it can mean so many other things. How you make your home a home. The sounds of children or pets playing. The aroma of scones in the oven or a lilac candle burning. The flowers blooming in your garden. The home grown vegetables ready to be picked. Grandma's quilt at the foot of the bed. A fire to curl up to with a good book. Or just a family spending time together with love, laughter and a good time.

An Adventure

So DH and I are planning a new
adventure!
We have our home on the market,
yes I know,
of all times, right?
It's one of those things, you know,
there's someone
out there who's looking for a home
like ours
in this area,
we hope.
Today is a week it's been for sale
and we've had
one showing, so that's good.
We'll have our first
Open House
on Sunday,
so we shall see.
But in the meantime, we've
been busy
staging our home.
Fresh paint,
organizing,
rearranging,
cleaning,
etc..
Our Kitchen:

Dining Room
Sitting Area
Living Room
Master Bedroom
lots and lots of stuff to
get our home
ready.
This is our first house together
so it's hard to
try and let it go but
at the same time
we're excited about our future
plans and are ready
to move forward.
No matter where we live
it will be our home.
It's kind of exciting
decorating a new place,
although we'll be renting
for a bit
so we can't do
whatever we want,
but
that's
OK,
we're ready to let some one
else worry
about the leak
under the sink,
or the toilet
not working.
And we'll
get to live outside
of a
big city,
and I am a city girl
at heart
so it'll be fun.
We shall see what happens.
On a cute note,
here are my
"kids"
looking so cute
Kahlua was trying to figure
out how
he could
fit in there with them,
but it wasn't happening,
poor baby!

Is Spring coming soon......

Could it be?
Is it really?
Is it a ROBIN?!!!
Around here from what I
understand
if you see a Robin then
SPRING
is around the corner
and that my
dears
is a Robin in my
backyard!
I already have my tulips,
daffodils,
and Columbine's
peeking through!
It makes my heart
pit'r pat'r
I'm ready to run through
the hills
and
SING!
Well, not really, let's not
go to far,
but I am
EXCITED
about
winter slowly
coming to
a close
and seeing life
appear
and color
take
over!
But it is still darn cold out today!
BRRRRR!
Have a great Friday!

Sick and Tired

Since November I have been sick
FOUR times this year.
This last virus, which Doctors don't
seem to know what it is,
has kicked my butt big time!
It took me 15 days to get well,
but to end the virus I
got
PINK EYE!
I thought I was Six years old
all over again!
Today is a good day, it has taken
another week to
feel myself again.
But before I got so sick,
DH and I had another home project.
We went to IKEA,
LOVE LOVE LOVE that place
and we picked out storage.
(one up three more to go)
(you can see what we painted before on the walls, a bright yellow, ugh)
(finally up now we need to screw into the wall and together)
(this outlet was behind the cabinets and DH did a good job of
exposing it)
(all we have to do now is add the doors, but wait, they were the
wrong size, so another week later we put on the right doors but had
to remove the drawers and redo them, frustrating. Nowhere in the
directions does it say to put on doors FIRST before adding
interior pieces, UGH!)
(while we waited to get the new doors I added all my stuff,
couldn't wait...:) I still have room)
(as you can see one door is missing, we have it but we didn't
realize that these doors needed four hinges, so we ran out, again
NOWHERE in the directions does it tell you how many
hinges you need for these doors....UGH!)
(so we moved our sideboard in front of the window, do you
see my sweet Latte there?)
(you don't realize how tall they are in the store
until you bring them home!)
So hopefully by next week we'll
have our door added
to the pantry.
Our home is lacking in closets.
Love the older homes
but wish they had better storage,
so we added our own.
Two coat closets, a broom closet
and a pantry.
We love it, it has certainly added
something to our home.
Love IKEA but they certainly don't
have the best directions
on their stuff.
But it won't discourage me from
shopping there!

New Handbags!!!

Ta-Da
Finally, it has been completed!
It took three days
to make my handbags.
I'd forgotten how much I enjoy doing
them.
Piecing them together, finding complimentary
touches to finish them
Above is my Blue and Brown soft corduroy
paisley.
Do you like the handles?
Above is my colorful fun spring/summer
bag.
I love the rick rack ribbon, isn't it fun?
And each bag has four pockets
to carry all the
junk
necessities!
Plenty of room!
These are for me!
I have enough fabric to make one
more of each,
so if anyone is interested
let me know.
Hope you liked them!

Sew Wonderful!!

Today I am actually going to get to
SEW!!!
Woo Hoo!
It's been way over due. Some of you may
have read a bit of
my whining on my last post.
I had every bit to whine, the winter is
flying by and I've yet
to accomplish any sewing projects, so last night
I cut, cut, cut fabric and I have
some more to do today.
Since the weather is icky out today,
roads are slick,
and hubby took the SUV to work
which is the car I
drive everyday, then I thought today
would be a great day
to catch up
DH brought my sewing machine in
for me,
it's on the dining room table
ready to go.
So the fabric above is for two purses,
This one below is for purse one:
Love the colors, its a soft
corduroy
and I'll be using dark brown
handles for this
purse
The one below is for purse number
two:
Bright colors with a dark brown
background,
aren't the polka dots fun?
This fabric is for an apron I'm making
for new friends that we
made.
We've been staying with a family
every once in awhile during
our Hindi class,
and she loves to cook so I thought
of making her an apron with the
colors of India,
but I forgot to get coordinating
strap fabric for the ties,
And this one is for another wonderful
friend in TN, a family we stayed
with while visiting.
They are such an awesome couple,
married for many years
and she loves
cooking and entertaining as
well,
the colors go with her kitchen:
So lots of sewing to do, and I'm
excited.
I will post the finished products.
