Welcome To My Casa Bella

My Casa Bella- means-my beautiful home- but it can mean so many other things. How you make your home a home. The sounds of children or pets playing. The aroma of scones in the oven or a lilac candle burning. The flowers blooming in your garden. The home grown vegetables ready to be picked. Grandma's quilt at the foot of the bed. A fire to curl up to with a good book. Or just a family spending time together with love, laughter and a good time.

Bath Remodel and Sewing

So another before and after. Been here now almost two years and it never ends.
Always something to do, which is fine that's the point of having your own home, right?
I've been home for a week, sick, so sick I couldn't lift my head up. I thought I may have actually gone through a winter and not catch a cold.
WELL, this cold has made up for that. Coughing and sounding as if there is a dog barking inside of me. UGH!!
Anyway,
I was going through some pictures of projects and realized I haven't post any of them.
First one is of the half bath.
Oh that was a scary room. Very 70's with the gold and black.
Gold wallpaper, thankfully this was the only room in the house that had wallpaper.
Black vanity and mirror, and wait for it
Black toilet seat with that nasty cushion on it!!
Oh it was awful. Absolutely gross. And like everywhere else in this place,
it smelled.
So after removing the wallpaper, and the toilet and the strange toilet paper holder
Martha Stewart Moss green paint, new fixtures and new light.
Same vanity just painted white and painted the frame around mirror white as well.

And of course a new toilet. Painting above is from a friend who's dad is a very talented artist, I love his stuff and it went great in here with the colors.
Then later I bought some fabric to cover the vanity with. It's the only original thing in this house, other than the hot tub downstairs.
We plan on replacing the vanity, but in the meantime, I wanted to hide it, even though I painted the cabinet I still didn't like the way it looked.
Colors in there are moss green with eggplant color. Love those combinations.
Still have to finish some trim in here as well as throughout the house.
Also did some skirting in the laundry room.
Sink Before
Sink After
Well, that's it for now. There will be more, especially with the warm weather coming I hope to have a lot done with our back yard.

Just Because....

I know it's been awhile since I've posted.

No one told me that when you put your house on the market
your life is OVER!
What I mean is, it takes OVER your life. You can't let a day
go by without organizing, sweeping or vacuuming,
when you've got cats, you've got to do it
EVERY DAY
because you'll see rounds balls of fur scurrying across your
floors, (did we get another cat?)
DID I NOT JUST SWIFF THESE FLOORS YESTERDAY!!??
So yes, I'm stressed, and frustrated and tired of people
walking through my house,
having to leave when they come, not knowing exactly when they will show up since they can't give you an exact time,
so they make it an hour.
Yes I'm whining, can't help it, I'm tired, and we dont' have kids
how do you do it with kids and toys and all that extra stuff?
My mom gave me this pretty and simple white valance with a lacy detail at the bottom and I think it is so sweet, so I put it in our
bathroom and I love it. It'll be the summer curtain.

I bought this sugar bowl a few years back and loved it. I used it
well, for sugar, until one day the lid broke and I was
so upset, I got it from an antiques store, not sure if it is
antique but either way, I thought it was sweet and I wanted to figure
out another way to use it, and,
Voila!
I can use it for my make-up brushes and it matches the bathroom
color so well.
Now I feel better.

Sewing Extravaganza

On Monday when I got up from bed I was determined to get some sewing done around the house. So I thought, its time to make my shower curtain and bathroom window curtain as well. I had everything layed out on my table in my workshop, so excited. I love to sew, but I still need to get myself psyched for it. Not sure why, but when I do, then I can't stop. I'm the Tasmanian devil then. I have to make myself stop in the middle of a project to go and use the bathroom or even get a bite to eat. Because once I start that's it, you can't stop me. So I layed my fabric out so you can see what I would be using: This is my winter colors. For some reason when winter comes around, some people tend to use dark colors. Which in turn makes a room darker. I can't do that! We have so little sunlight during the winter, and I hate it when we have to turn our clocks back (that's another subject I can easily get into) by 5:30 I feel like I'm ready for bed already. I don't like it at all! So this year I wanted cheery colors for the winter. Winters here in PA can be dreary and dark and that can be depressing. I like when it snows because it brightens things up outside without any sun. Anyway, I wanted pretty cheerful colors and I love floral and strips or plaids together and add some tassel and VOILA! you have happiness in a room even if it is gloomy out.
I don't know why, but I took no pictures of me cutting fabric, but you know how that goes, right? I had to move my project into my dining room since I needed a larger table to lay the fabric on to cut it. That wasn't fun, since my fabric kept trying to slide around on me, and if a piece of string was dangling then my cats thought it was play time. Or if there was enough fabric hanging over onto the floor, they thought it was nap time. I couldn't figure out why the fabric was quickly sliding down until lo and behold, but fat cat was trying to curl into it which made the fabric slide in a very quick manner. Bad kitty!
Sewing the hem of the fabric here above
Now adding the tassel. I love trims, they make such a difference.
The finished product
Can you see my window treatment? (Above)
The pretty tassels! I thought of adding them to the bottom of the fabric but what in the world was I thinking, I have cats! It would of looked like a massacre one morning, with tassels everywhere. That would of been bad!
No matter what I did, the camera would not flash for this picture because of the light coming in through the window.
But this gives you a better view of my bathroom with the window treatment.
So there it is. All done in one day. A whole day actually but what a feeling of accomplishment. Next is my bedroom windows. I bought a beautiful fabric for in there for this winter as well. So that'll be my next post hopefully. As well as sewing window treatments for my workshop. That one is way overdue. And I purchased fabric for our living room windows and it is MIA! What in the world happened to 7 yards of beautiful brick red toile fabric? The last thing I remember was holding the fabric up against the sliding doors with some tassel that I thought may work, then I folded the fabric and put it in the package it came in, and that is it. My mind goes blank. What did I do with it? I'm frustrated with myself. My hubby says its got to be here somewhere, but "here" where? We don't have that much storage here and so there is very little places it can hide, how do you lose 7 yards of fabric???!!!!
