Welcome To My Casa Bella

My Casa Bella- means-my beautiful home- but it can mean so many other things. How you make your home a home. The sounds of children or pets playing. The aroma of scones in the oven or a lilac candle burning. The flowers blooming in your garden. The home grown vegetables ready to be picked. Grandma's quilt at the foot of the bed. A fire to curl up to with a good book. Or just a family spending time together with love, laughter and a good time.

Sew Wonderful!!

Today I am actually going to get to
SEW!!!
Woo Hoo!
It's been way over due. Some of you may
have read a bit of
my whining on my last post.
I had every bit to whine, the winter is
flying by and I've yet
to accomplish any sewing projects, so last night
I cut, cut, cut fabric and I have
some more to do today.
Since the weather is icky out today,
roads are slick,
and hubby took the SUV to work
which is the car I
drive everyday, then I thought today
would be a great day
to catch up
DH brought my sewing machine in
for me,
it's on the dining room table
ready to go.
So the fabric above is for two purses,
This one below is for purse one:
Love the colors, its a soft
corduroy
and I'll be using dark brown
handles for this
purse
The one below is for purse number
two:
Bright colors with a dark brown
background,
aren't the polka dots fun?
This fabric is for an apron I'm making
for new friends that we
made.
We've been staying with a family
every once in awhile during
our Hindi class,
and she loves to cook so I thought
of making her an apron with the
colors of India,
but I forgot to get coordinating
strap fabric for the ties,
And this one is for another wonderful
friend in TN, a family we stayed
with while visiting.
They are such an awesome couple,
married for many years
and she loves
cooking and entertaining as
well,
the colors go with her kitchen:
So lots of sewing to do, and I'm
excited.
I will post the finished products.

Getting to Work- Finally...

So I am finally doing it!!! I'm sewing. YEA!! As much as I love to sew and do crafts I have to mentally prepare myself for the projects. Once I do that , then I can't stop. But I'm not sure why it takes me awhile to get myself going. Why some people can just get up and get right to work, while those like me, well, I have to have my coffee, check emails, eat breakfast while watching the news, then, I cleaned. Yes, I had to clean before going to work. Because if I try to go into my workroom, knowing that my house needs swept, bathrooms need wiped down and that there are dishes in my sink, well, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my work and I wouldn't get much done.
So I rolled up my sleeves, swept the floors, vacuumed them, wiped the bathroom down, cleaned the dishes, wiped down the countertops and stove and put things away. Then I felt better and I was ready for work.
Now its time to get all things in order, I make sure my trusty old Singer machine is clean inside and out so it doesn't ruin my fabric. This machine is old, how old I don't know, but old. I bought from a friend who lost her grandma several years ago. It was an extra machine her grandmother had, she bought it new, but hardly used it. So I bought it for $60. It was a great purchase. I've had it 12 years, plus however long she's had it. It's been a loyal companion. But I have to admit, I really want the Singer CE-150 that monogram's and embroiders but there is no way right now I can dish out $500 for one. So I have to wait. One day, I'm sure one day. In the meantime, my old buddy and I get to work:
and together we pieced five bags. I still have five more to put together, and some aprons to cut out yet. Then if I have time, I'd like to try out a new pattern I received in the mail, a new handbag pattern. I have three weeks left before the fall craft show. Oh my, where in the world has the time gone??!! I'll be a busy sewing bee for the next three weeks. So I wanted you to have a sneak peek of what I'm doing. I'll post some more updates soon, I hope....

Getting Ready for Sewing

I received these fabrics in the mail last week and was so excited when I opened the package and saw how adorable they are in person. I love them. The top one is so much fun. I'm going to use it to make an apron out of. The colors are fun, the pattern is fun. I love the polka dots that match it perfectly. Its going to be alot of fun to make. I'm also going to make a bag with the fabric as well. Can't wait to show you the finished product.
The other fabric is one of my favorites as well. A Parisian kitty with the Eiffel tower and a bistro table. Too cute, and it makes a nice apron. I made one just like it in a light blue some time back, I wish I could find my pictures of that one, but it sold pretty quickly. So I thought I 'd try it again.

These are only a few of my fabrics. I have some also hanging over a clothes drying rack. I have some hanging on a hanger ready to cut for aprons as well. I love collecting fabrics, ribbons, buttons, trims, things I'm going to use for my projects.

Well, I've got my fabrics and liners ready for sewing. I know the craft show is in October, but its amazing how quickly it arrives. I'm still waiting for another pattern to arrive in the mail. I'm going to try a different pattern as well and see how it does at the show. Although I don't make my own bag patterns, I take others and tweak them to suit my needs and the needs of other women. Some of the bags will have cloth handles and some will have pre-made wooden or metal handles. I chose a few different ones to break up the style a bit. Its fun experimenting. So we'll see.
As I start sewing them, I'll be posting pictures. Thanks for looking. Remember, you can always purchase my bags at http://www.casabella2006.etsy.com I'll also be putting the aprons on there as well. I've sold all my other aprons so I don't have any on my Etsy store. But that'll change.

Well, its been quite some time since I blogged. Way too long. I don't know why, because I do enjoy doing this. Maybe too much. Once I start, I can't get off the computer. Oh well, here I am and here is my last sewing creation. I really enjoy making aprons. This one I made for a dear friend who lives in Upstate NY, we visited them back in March and we had such a great time. So I wanted to send her an apron. It has tea cups and teapots with sayings. She and her husband LOVE tea. They introduced me to some loose tea and I'm addicted. Just love it. I have one to two cups a day. So I thought I'd make her an apron with tea all over it. Of course, I've yet to mail it. It's all packaged and ready to go, but for some reason I just hate going to the Post Office, but this gift is way over due.

Cabin Fever Craft Show

So my dear friend and I did a craft show called "Cabin Fever Arts and Crafts Show" in the neighboring local town of where I live. It was there first show to have and I am glad we signed on. The title was certainly appropiate, it was the first Saturday in March, and the weather was perfect, it felt like Spring and people were anxious to get out. I personally thought I wouldn't do too well in the small town, but was I surprised!! I did better there than in my last craft show. We had a great time, and several of our friends also had booths. There were alot of people there, and the food was great. I will definitely do it again.
