My Casa Bella

COME IN THE EVENING, OR COME IN THE MORNING;

COME WHEN YOU'RE LOOK'D FOR,

OR COME WITHOUT WARNING.

KISSES AND WELCOME YOU'LL FIND BEFORE YOU,

AND THE OFTENER YOU COME HERE

THE MORE I'LL ADORE YOU!

-Thomas Osbourne Davis

Welcome To My Casa Bella

My Casa Bella- means-my beautiful home- but it can mean so many other things. How you make your home a home. The sounds of children or pets playing. The aroma of scones in the oven or a lilac candle burning. The flowers blooming in your garden. The home grown vegetables ready to be picked. Grandma's quilt at the foot of the bed. A fire to curl up to with a good book. Or just a family spending time together with love, laughter and a good time.

That Time of Year...

So
it's that time again,
that time to wish Spring were here.
Flipping through gardening books or magazines.
Looking at websites that sell seeds or plants.
Going to the nurseries that are starting to open to the public
and stroll around for ideas.
Anxious.
To want to dig in the dirt.
To enjoy being outside in the warm sun.
To watch those Spring Flowers push through.
Sadly, this will be my first Spring when I will not be
able to see my hard work pay off.
Will not see my Spring flowers push through the ground.
Someone else will be enjoying that, well, I hope they will.
(this is my favorite Spring flower that bloomed at our home, we have the seeds packed away for my next garden)
So,
we plan on buying another home,
in fact, we have one in mind, but are waiting, waiting,
waiting, and waiting to hear back.
In the meantime,
this house is a blank slate.
The last owners didn't bother to garden.
It will allow me to dream up some plans, to learn
from my mistakes.
I have all kinds of ideas, of course, assuming we may get this house.
(one of several rose bushes we had)
I was checking out some different Cottage Gardens online for inspiration and found some beautiful ones out there.
(Google search)
I'd like to make an entry to the garden like this, an arch with
Wisteria growing over it,
and when you enter, I'd like to have cutting flowers, a vegetable garden and some roses.
Lots of work, fertilizing, tilling, and planting to do, but I enjoy that.
So more Google searching I will be doing, and saving
pictures for inspiration.
Spring is around the corner, if we get this house, I won't get to do any of this until next year, but that's OK, I can be ready
when that time comes.

Rain, Baking, Relaxing....

So it's one of those days,
rainy, cold, and windy.
Yesterday it was
80 degrees
and gorgeous, so I took
advantage of
that
but I knew that today I would
feel miserable.
My FM has flared up, not a
surprise
Fall and Spring wreak havoc
on that.
I love those times of the year
but my body
does not
So today, I am attempting
to make a pie
out of Gluten Free products
which I will
post later today whenever
I get it
done.
Making a pie today is an all day
affair when you
feel like I do.
The sun tried to come out
after it poured all morning
but now its dark
and dreary again,
welcome to
SPRING!
But I got laundry almost
done today,
we had our Open House this
past Sunday
and it turned out well,
that was stressful.
I will tell you the one benefit
to selling your
home,
you are FORCED to keep your
house clean and organized.
You just don't know when you'll
get a phone call
telling you
someone wants to
see your home!
YIKES!
But, we have been
disciplining ourselves
to keeping up with our home
every single day.
Otherwise it's not fun having
strangers walking through
your home,
I feel like my privacy is being
violated but I know it's
part of the process,
but I don't have
to like it.
I also got to reorganize
my closet
and swap out my winter
clothes.
I enjoy doing that because
I forget what I had
for the Spring/Summer
season so it's like
shopping in
my own closet every
season.
I bought a skirt
at JC Penney and have been
trying to find the right
top for it, mainly
because the color is so hard
to find
and who would of known
that I had two tops
already
that go great with it.
You see, like
shopping!
And the other great thing is
that I get to sort through my
things and decide
what to pitch, donate
or take to a consignment
shop. I have two
bags to take.
I need to stop shopping.
That is a goal that I
am setting
for myself.
Buy only what I NEED,
not what I want,
plus my closet is not a walk in as
some of you women
are blessed with,
so I have to be careful with
the space that I
have to work with.
(Yes I did NEED that skirt that I bought at Penney's)
On another note, I saw
this on a site, wish I
could remember where,
 I just love it
Isn't it  beautiful?
I'm trying to figure out if it's
a dresser at the end
of the bed or
one solid bed frame?
This would be great in a small space.
Well, just wanted to stop
in and say
hello!

Is Spring coming soon......

Could it be?
Is it really?
Is it a ROBIN?!!!
Around here from what I
understand
if you see a Robin then
SPRING
is around the corner
and that my
dears
is a Robin in my
backyard!
I already have my tulips,
daffodils,
and Columbine's
peeking through!
It makes my heart
pit'r pat'r
I'm ready to run through
the hills
and
SING!
Well, not really, let's not
go to far,
but I am
EXCITED
about
winter slowly
coming to
a close
and seeing life
appear
and color
take
over!
But it is still darn cold out today!
BRRRRR!
Have a great Friday!

My Beautiful Roses

When we returned from our vacation, I found all my beautiful rose bushes in bloom. Just breathtaking. They always look so beautiful and healthy this time of year, before the beetles and aphids attack.
Last night my DH put up a trellis for the one bush because we had a storm before we left and the poor rose was hanging down forward. Ready to snap. So when we returned I bought a white trellis and kindly and lovingly asked him to PLEASE stake my beautiful rose bush. I've had it for several years now and did not want to lose it like I lost my Rose Climber 5 years ago from a hurricane. I loved that climber. It was healthy and so tall with gorgeous yellow double roses. The most beautiful plant I had. It was my pride and joy. Then a hurricane came through and just ripped it out of the ground!!! I actually cried. I babied that rose and cared for it. Then it was gone. So I replaced it with another, it's beautiful, but it's not my precious climber. But that's ok, a rose is beautiful no matter what. Although my DH probably wouldn't agree after the ordeal it took to put in the trellis. Poor guy, trying to dig behind a large rose bush with their lovely thorns was not fun for him. I think if it were up to him he would of dug it up. Close your little buds my dear rose bush. He didn't mean it. But he did a good job. Now it's standing up straight and proud.

Ok, so when I first started this blog, I started out saying how excited I was that Spring was finally coming. My flowers are coming through, everything is so green. I weeded a little this morning. Now I need to go and buy flowers. But in March I started these Tomato Seedlings. I have 4 dozen of them. Now, I won't plant them all, I will give some away to family and friends but I will plant at least a dozen or more. They were given to me from a friend and she does hers by seed. They're heirloom. I've never done heirloom before. Some of the plants I never heard of. But since I like making my own salsa and spaghetti sauce, she thought I would love these. So right now, they're growing quickly. I water them every other day and I can't wait to get them in the ground. This will be my first time doing it this way. Otherwise, I go to the nursery and by the plants. So I can't wait.

Spring has Sprung!!!

So its finally here, SPRING. Where life is evolving around us now. The flowers, the birds singing. Its amazing what it does to a person, especially after a cold winter. Although we didn't have much when it came to snow, sadly, I always feel, if its going to be this cold then it should at least snow every once in awhile, snow is beautiful as its coming down and when it lands on the trees. But that's ok, spring is here and I am so excited. I did alot of yard work on Wednesday, cleaned up all the leaves out of the garden beds, trimmed some plants and rose bushes. Seeing those spring flowers pushing there way through is so exciting. It makes me want to do more work, wether outside, or cleaning up inside, and sewing.
